As an artist, Tais believes that musicians, more than any other professionals, have the responsibility to heal and bring consciousness to their audience. Her biggest influences are: Elis Regina, Sara Tavares, Chico Buarque, Lenine and Richard Bonna.

Tais Alvarenga

 

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, 23 years old, songwriter, composer, singer and actress Tais Alvarenga graduated from Berklee College of Music as a film scoring major.

Music has always been the major thing in her life. She started her involvement with music really young; having her first performance in a church at the age of seven. Afterwards, she started studying piano and she composed her first song at 8. Tais started working in the recording studio when she was 10-11 years old, always in the Gospel style. When she was 13, she started working with bands in Rio de Janeiro. She has also worked as backing vocal for famous Brazilian composers and singers such as Jair Rodrigues, Oswaldo Montenegro and Nando Reis.

Back in Brazil, Tais also worked as an actress, dancer and second director for 3 years. She dropped her career as an actress when the opportunity to come to Berklee appeared. Berklee had been her dream since she was 17. Now she has graduated as a Film Scoring major and she plans to record her album at the end of the year.
